Check out these 4 Hidden AI features on your iPhone right now !

Not until recently has Apple been a big part of the public talk about creative AI. But AI is already very present on the iPhone. It powers key features in well-known apps like Siri, the Camera, and Photos.

But Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, has been talking more about the technology, which makes it seem like Apple may finally be ready to make a public push for AI. In February, CEO Tim Cook revealed on an earnings call that Apple is spending in generative AI. This was more than a year after ChatGPT made headlines around the world and started a tech arms race. He said there was “a huge opportunity for Apple with gen AI and AI” but didn’t say what it was.

Integrating AI into Apple Products

Cook didn’t say much, but Apple study shows the company might be working on the goal of having AI built into its iPhones. Apple then released new MacBook Air computers this week, which the company calls the “best consumer laptop for AI.”

Apple is the only company that knows what’s coming next for the iPhone and its other goods. Here are some of our best AI-based features on later iPhones for now, though.

Accessibility Through AI: Generate a clone of your voice

AI is already used by Apple in iOS 17, which came out last year, but Apple doesn’t have a robot yet. On-device machine learning makes Personal Voice an accessibility setting that lets people who might lose their speech quickly copy their voice so they can talk to their loved ones more easily.

The iPhone wants you to read 150 words out loud so it can learn your voice. Following that, AI looks at your voice and makes a fake version of it.

You could use the iPhone’s type-to-speak features to turn text into speech in FaceTime and other apps that are compatible with the new voice.

You can easily copy text from iPhone pictures

Live Text is an AI feature that can be seen from the front of an iPhone, running iOS 15 or later in 2021. Like Google Lens, it’s a computer vision tool that can read both handwriting and typed text in pictures. After that, it only takes a few taps to copy and paste text from pictures.

In everyday life, Live Text can be very helpful. Think about a recipe you wrote by hand and wanted to turn it into a digital file. You could take a picture of the recipe with your iPhone, then copy and paste the words into a Word document and save it as a digital copy.

Auto Correct is better than ever.

Apple fixed one of the biggest problems with automatic correction in its most recent software update. You can curse now, and Apple won’t change the swear word to something nicer, like “duck” or “shut.”

Auto correct has gotten better in more ways than just letting you swear more easily. Better mistakes can now be fixed by auto correct, and it can serve up more personalized inner prediction text.

Apple says that the new transformer language model in iOS 17 (which uses machine learning to guess words) is a big reason for this change. A lot of data has been used to teach it, which lets it learn context and trends that help it do better, like being able to sound like a person.

Photography Redefined: AI-Powered Camera

It is not a secret that a lot of the camera features on the iPhone depend on complex algorithms and digital photos. One example is Portrait Mode, which uses AI to find objects and add a background effect.

Another mode is Cinematic Mode, which simulates the angle you want and changes the focus on the fly to keep your moving subject sharp. With iOS 17, one of the newest AI-powered features is that the Photo app can now find pets in photos, which makes it easier to organize them.

Will Siri get smarter in the next version of the iPhone?

Siri has been around since iOS 5, which came out in 2011, but Apple’s virtual helper could soon get a lot better. The Information said in September that Apple wants to improve Siri with big language models, which are an important part of generative AI.

That piece gave an example of how Siri could do more complicated things by responding to simple voice commands. For example, it talked about how to turn a group of photos into a GIF and then send it to a contact. If that case is correct, this is a big step forward for Apple’s digital assistant.

Apple already uses AI to help Siri understand words and talk back to you like a real person, among other things.

Apple usually shows off new iPhone software at its Worldwide Developer Conference. That’s when we’ll probably learn more about its plans for AI on the iPhone.
